Ijuí, the World Capital of Ethnicities, is a Brazilian municipality with 134 years of history, located in the Northwest region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, in the South region of Brazil, at an average altitude of 330m above sea level and 400 kilometers from the state capital, Porto Alegre.
Ijuí is the third most populous city in the region with 87,775 inhabitants, it is a university city, with extensive hospital resources and an economy based on commerce and agribusiness, standing out as the largest and most important population and business center in the region.
Due to the city's ethnic diversity, the result of the immigration of more than three dozen people of European, African and Asian origin, the city is also known as the World Capital of Ethnicities, which is why it holds the International Ethnic Festival Exhibition (Expofest) every year, which currently features thirteen ethnicities and four ethnic groups.
Ijuí is known for bringing together various ethnic groups, hence being known as the Land of Diversified Cultures. The following can be mentioned: Afro-Brazilians, Indians, Portuguese, French, Italians, Germans, Poles, Austrians, Latvians, Dutch, Swedes, Spanish, Japanese, Russians, Arabs, Lebanese, Lithuanians, Ukrainians, among others. Added to this is the fact that Ijuí was chosen as the birthplace of Lithuanian immigration to Brazil in 1890.
Ijuí is strategically located at a highway junction between BR 285, which connects with Argentina, and state highways that connect the various regions of Rio Grande do Sul.
Ijuí is located 40 kilometers from Santo Ângelo Airport, 180 kilometers from Passo Fundo Airport and 400 kilometers from Porto Alegre Airport, which receive regional, national and international flights.

Ijuí is on the Water, Culture and Flavors Route and is known for its water resources, cultural diversity and varied cuisine. Among the tourist attractions that can be visited in Ijuí are the Parque da Pedreira (Rocky Park), Usina Velha (Old Power Plant), Espaço Capitão Dunga (Dunga Citizen's), Ponte de Ferro ( Iron Brodge), Cascata das Andorinha (Swallow Bird Waterfall), Museu Antropológico Diretor Pestana (Principall Pestna Antropológico Museum) and the Exhibition Park, where you can find the typical houses of the ethnic groups that colonized the city of Ijuí.
